What's next for Don Imus

Ok, now I haven't seen a lot of talk about it on this site, every time I've mentioned it, people have no idea what I'm talking about which is really surprising.
Anyways, now that Don Imus has been fired from CBS for using the term "nappy headed hos", a term being used more now than it was before because of all the news reports about it and i'm sure he regrets making now, what's next for him? Do you think he'll be back on regular radio? Or will he go to satellite like O and A and Stern did? or will he concentrate on other things? I just think it was incredibly sad that CBS didn't even have the guts to keep him long enough to let him broadcast both days of his radiothon to raise funds for kids who have sudden infant death sindrome, and other forms of sickness, and even cancer research. You might not like what he said, but man I think this is such a bad deal for freedom of speech. Whatever happened to that!!!!

The thing is, Imus just resigned a 5 year contract with CBS, so either he'll be stuck with no job and earn lots of money like O and A did for the next few years, or he'll do other things. If they fired Imus that easily over something, other radio personalities who do anything that's considered remotely contravercial have got to be worried about their jobs. You never know when someone is gonna find something you say objectionable and that could be the end for you. It's very scary to see what's happened.

Well, it seems to me that part of the reason why Imus got the boot was economic. Not only was it over concerns of advertisers pulling out due to this whole mess, but apparently from what I heard somewhere he wasn't really making a lot of money for the network. I guess they needed a better reason to fire him and this was it, so apparently he may have been considered disposable to his bosses for a time. I suppose if he's not interested in hiding in a cabin somewhere in the woods of Montana, I expect he'll resurface on satellite radio, providing that by the time he gets there they haven't made it as restrictive as standard earth-bound radio. There are other aspects of this story that interest me, but that'll probably mean my creating a topic under News and Views. As for free speech, I think it depends on who's doing the speaking and who you're speaking to and its content. I've discovered that some speech is freer than others here in the land of the free and the home of the, um, brave?

You know, the erosion of the first amendment, and that's right down to what happened to Imus is just sickening. Political correctness insanity has gone too far. LOL!

I really hope he continues in broadcast. His show was fantastic. I've been listening to it off and on for years now. and yeah, cbs and msnbc should have had some balls and not caved in. Imus is a millionaire though so I am pretty sure he won't starve. But it's a shame they silenced him. His show had so much to offer.

well from a broadcasters perspective he was shitty, his content, the whole cowboy act in manhattin didn't really work. But he will be picked up again. Maybe a sat radio show that he can do live from his ranch or something. I mean him and o&a shared the bottom of the barrol in the raitings department in the last nyc book, but who knows.
